SX7868 : Pylon west of Woodland

taken 8 years ago, near to Woodland, Devon, Great Britain

Pylon west of Woodland
Pylon west of Woodland
In the valley the lane runs from Orlycombe Cross (near the white chimney, right) to Lake Cross past an unmapped house, an orchard and Waye Farm. The hill beyond is above Halsworthy, southwest of Chuley Cross; the telecoms mast is just visible to the right of the summit SX7568.

The slender grass stems catching the sun are of Crested Dog's-tail (Cynosurus cristatus). It is common everyhere, drought-resistant, useful for both pasture and domestic lawns. Livestock relishes the foliage but leaves the tough flowerstalks untouched. 10am BST.
