SK2579 : Stone circle, Longshaw Estate

taken 8 years ago, near to Nether Padley, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Stone circle, Longshaw Estate
Stone circle, Longshaw Estate
This is the most obvious stone in the circle which is now almost completely overgrown with heather. The circle may date from the bronze age. Some archaeologists say this is not a stone circle but merely 'a fortuitous arrangement of stones'.
In the background can be seen the 'Mother Cap' rock outcrop above Millstone Edge.
