Path to Blinkbonny from Pace Hill
Path to Blinkbonny from Pace Hill
The footpath from Pallinsburn, over Pace Hill, joins a well made farm-access track which runs south towards the minor road near the farm of Blinkbonny. The nearby wood is called Blinkbonny Strip. On the distant hill are the trees of Flodden Hill, and King's Chair Hill both associated with the Battle of Flodden.
The Battle of Flodden Field :: NT8837
Also called the Battle of Branxton Moor. It was fought on September 9th 1513 between an invading Scots army under King James IV and an English army commanded by Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey. It ended in a victory for the English and was the largest battle (in terms of numbers) fought between the two nations.
