ST6269 : Hillside meadow

taken 8 years ago, near to Brislington, Bristol, Great Britain

Hillside meadow
Hillside meadow
The slopes leading from Stockwood to Brislington are full of wild plants, flowers and creatures - not a common sight around urban areas these days. Very little obvious use is made of this land, either agricultural or domestic.

Later investigations of old OS maps reveals this area was a rifle range in the late 1800s; the targets were at the foot of the slope with a warning flagpole at the top and the range set out up to 600 yards!
