NT9136 : Blinkbonny

taken 8 years ago, near to Crookham, Northumberland, Great Britain

This is 1 of 2 images, with title Blinkbonny in this square
Oats are growing in the field in the foreground.
Blinkbonny is mainly found as a place name in Scotland and is said to be Norse for 'pleasant prospect'. Perhaps there is a horse connection for the name here (along with the oats). A filly called 'Blink Bonny' won the Derby in (1857) and is commemorated (her hooves and portrait adorn the bar) in a pub at Christon Bank, Northumberland NU2123 : Blink Bonny Pub at Christon Bank
