TQ0272 : Wraysbury River on Staines Moor

taken 7 years ago, near to Hythe End, Windsor And Maidenhead, Great Britain

Wraysbury River on Staines Moor
Wraysbury River on Staines Moor
Older Ordnance Survey maps have the alternative spelling of Wyrardisbury for Wraysbury for both the village and the river.

Here the reed beds on the right are an important habitat but the alien and highly intrusive Himalayan Balsam on the left is a menace.

Even allowing for cartographical needs the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 scale mapping is wildly and unnecessarily inaccurate here. The co-ordinates of the subject and photographer positions have been taken from the much more accurate Ordnance Survey 1:10,000 scale mapping.
