SU6391 : Waterfalls in the Cress Beds

taken 7 years ago, near to Ewelme, Oxfordshire, Great Britain

Waterfalls in the Cress Beds
Waterfalls in the Cress Beds
Left to itself the Ewelme Brook would be a fairly steep and fast flowing stream, losing around 25m in height along its 4km length from springs in Ewelme village to confluence with the Thames at Benson.
To accommodate this gradient the cress bed section is constructed in a series of steps with overfalls between them.
This structure is between the upper and lower beds downstream of the road bridge.
