Parkend railway station signal box
Parkend railway station signal box
Viewed from New Road. The signal box is at the north end of Parkend station. This is the northermost point reached by passenger services on the heritage Dean Forest Railway line from Lydney Junction.
The line continues for a short distance beyond the level crossing on Crown Lane. A part of the white crossing gate can be seen behind the signal box. This section is used for locomotive manoeuvring, specifically to allow a locomotive to changes tracks in preparation for the return journey. A set of points beyond the south end of the station allows the locomotive to complete the manoeuvre.
