TQ4840 : Top of bridge over the Uckfield line

taken 18 years ago, near to Blackham, East Sussex, England

Top of bridge over the Uckfield line
This boring photograph was taken where a minor lane crosses the Uckfield line about a mile south of Cowden station. The railway beneath is single-track and extends as far south as Uckfield. Formerly it extended to Lewes and so formed an alternative route from London to Brighton. There has been talk of re-extending the line to Lewes, but of course this is not really ever going to happen.
