The Plume of Feathers (inn sign)
The Plume of Feathers (inn sign)
The name and sign relate to the heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales, and has been used for many centuries, but not by the original native Princes of Wales. The motto "Ich Dien" is in German "I serve", but equally it may well be a corruption of the Old Welsh "Eich Dyn", which means "Your Man".
