Lenticular cloud, Creag Meagaidh
Lenticular cloud, Creag Meagaidh
A distinctive cloud which remained in place for several hours. It marks the top of a loop of airflow pushed up by the 1130m Creag Meagaidh. As air reaches the top, water condenses only to evaporate again as it descends the other side (in this case southern) side of the hill. Meanwhile more slightly moist air is rising to the top of the wave maintaining the cloud.

View across Glen Roy towards the northern side of Creag Meagaidh.
