Buildings at Blakes Lock
Buildings at Blakes Lock
The red brick building was the engine house of Reading's Victorian sewage pumping station LinkExternal link . The projecting far end and the black boarded buildings beyond it are now occupied by 'Bel and the Dragon' riverside restaurant LinkExternal link . The nearer part of the building still houses pumping equipment operated by Thames Water.
Two other buildings at the pumping station contain a small Riverside Museum LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) , which moved from the main block when the site was redeveloped in the early 2000s.
