TQ3434 : Ancient way north from Selsfield Common

taken 7 years ago, near to Selsfield Common, West Sussex, Great Britain

Ancient way north from Selsfield Common
Ancient way north from Selsfield Common
Taking a less direct course than that mapped for the Roman road between Selsfield Common and East Street, but starting and finishing at much the same points, this route is clearly very old, and deeply sunken over most of its route to the valley bottom. It passes through a holly grove, remarkable both for its length and the size of some of its members. The two large trunks here are both holly.
