Reconstruction of Holywell lower lake
Reconstruction of Holywell lower lake
The second, or lower, lake at Holywell is not part of the gardens of the Hall, but is in a field behind the home farm manager's house. This lake was empty and abandoned by the 1960s, and in the middle '70s an attempt was made to refill it, which improved the appearance no end. But it was not at its historic width, and there were leakage problems alleged.

On passing today I noticed a massive cleaning and relining operation was in progress.

This is the same lake in TF0016 : Holywell, seen from the far end of that picture.
