NS4476 : Grouse butt on Brown Hill

taken 8 years ago, 3 km from Milton, West Dunbartonshire, Great Britain

Grouse butt on Brown Hill
Grouse butt on Brown Hill
This is effectively the opposite view to NS4476 : View to grouse butt on Brown Hill; it is taken from the side of the grouse butt (which can be seen as a heather-filled hollow mound in the foreground), and is looking back towards the point on the footpath from which the other photograph was taken.

The 1:25000 OS map shows several grouse butts here on the slopes of Brown Hill. The one shown here is not the only one whose remains were visible (for example, another one could be seen on the far side of the clearing, lower down the slope), but, for the purpose of capturing it photographically, it was better placed than the others.
