Water-lilies in the Lily Loch
Water-lilies in the Lily Loch
This photograph makes clear how NS4777 : The Lily Loch acquired its name. However, the lilies themselves may be of some interest; John Mitchell's "Loch Lomondside" (New Naturalist Series, 2001) observes:

"At 310 m, the wind-sheltered western edge of the Lily Loch below Duncolm has several patches of the rare hybrid water-lily, Nuphar × spenneriana, although neither of the parent plants (yellow water-lily and least yellow water-lily Nuphar pumila) appear to be present today."

As a check on the view direction, a tall skyline peak, just right of centre, is Stob Binnein (NN4322).
