Bridleway at Stinsford, Dorset
Just beyond the second gate, two bridleways meet. A path comes in from the left, following the course of a Roman Road; however, the bridleway which continues to the right, deviates from the Roman Road. This bridleway heads towards Higher Bockhampton, and would have been used by Thomas Hardy and his father, who played in the Church Quire at Stinsford ("Mellstock Church", in "Under the Greenwood Tree").
