SH9008 : Rock outcrop, Mynydd Lluest Fach

Rock outcrop, Mynydd Lluest Fach
Rock outcrop, Mynydd Lluest Fach
The wide expanse of moorland is broken by few features, and this outcrop of sandstone is one of them. It is part of a ridge running obliquely across the area of Mynydd Lluest Fach and is a controlling factor in the development of the landscape under glaciation. Across the low valley there is a similar outcrop atop the next ridge. The deep valley of Cwm Tafolog is completely lost in the upland landscape, while the mass of Cadair Idris floats on the horizon in the haze.
