Erected in 1923 destroying much of the southern end of the iron age hill fort.
The memorial acts as a beacon which is lit with a large flame at its top on special days:-
25th September in memory of the Battle of Loos
24 October United Nations Day
11 November Armistice Day
and Remembrance Sunday
Beyond, the Tay Bridge carries the railway across the Firth of Tay to Wormit.
