Braeval Distillery
Braeval Distillery
The distillery was built in 1973-4 by Seagram and produced whisky for the Chivas Regal blend. Chivas is now owned by Pernod Ricard. It was originally named 'Braes of Glenlivet Distillery' but the name was changed to Braeval to prevent confusion with The Glenlivet Distillery nearby, which is owned by the same company. It was converted in 1997 to be operated by one man (sorry, one person!) and was mothballed from 2002 until 2008. Standing at 355 metres above sea level, it claims to be the highest distillery in Scotland!
