The end of the line, Parkend
The level crossing gates at the north end of Parkend station mark the northern end of the Dean Forest Railway's route from Lydney Junction. The tracks extend about 200 metres beyond the level crossing - this section is used for locomotive manoeuvring, specifically to allow a locomotive to changes tracks in preparation for the return journey. A set of points beyond the south end of the station allows a locomotive to complete the manoeuvre.
