Aldwych tube station facade
Aldwych tube station facade
This is a response to Paul Collins' TQ3080 : Aldwych Underground Station, taken whilst the station was opened for the first time since when it closed to the public in 1994 for an exhibition about how the Tube is currently being transformed under TfL's investment programme. It was situated on the Aldwych branch of the Piccadilly line, constructed in 1902, the next stop after Holborn. The station is now merely used for filming, with Transformers and The Bank Job being just two movies in which the station stars. An ex-Northern line 1972 stock train is also stabled at the station for this purpose and to keep the track in good condition. View taken looking west-northwest from Surrey Street. King's College London University is just behind the photographer.
