Inside the Butterfly Tunnel
The South of England Rare Breeds Centre
Situated at Highlands Farm about a mile to the East of Woodchurch, The South of England Rare Breeds Centre has displays of various farm and pet animals, including pigs, cows, sheep, and goats, ducks, geese, chicken, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and chipmunks.
The farm has a children's petting barn, discovery and wildlife gardens, walk through aviary and butterfly tunnel, falconry displays, and woodland walks.
Buildings from Yonsea Farm (a model Georgian farm) were re-located to the site as a preservation project. They were saved in the late 1990's from the site of the new high speed railway line, High Speed 1.
The farm is run by The Canterbury Oast Trust, a registered charity which runs commercial operations that provide occupational opportunities for people with learning disabilities in Kent and East Sussex in England, as well as providing homes, care and educational support.
