SP3165 : Between the viaducts: 2/3

taken 8 years ago, near to Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Great Britain

Between the viaducts: 2/3
Between the viaducts: 2/3
Looking across Bath Place towards Bath Street. The viaduct on the right was built for Brunel's GWR Oxford-Birmingham line, opened 1852. That on the left was built by the L&NWR for the Rugby-Leamington line, fully open in 1851. It was reportedly stronger and better-built than the GWR viaduct, which is still operational, while the L&NWR, later LMS viaduct here is an isolated length having been severed at Bath Place and Lower Avenue. Most of the arches are occupied by car repair and maintenance businesses.
