SK2662 : Darley Bridge - flood wall

taken 8 years ago, near to Darley Bridge, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Darley Bridge - flood wall
Darley Bridge - flood wall
The stone wall alongside the road here has small gaps to allow flood water to pass through it. The lower part of the wall is apparently made from the cylindrical cores of pulp roller millstones - see LinkExternal link.
The building in the middle of the top half of the photo is the Square & Compass.
