SH6178 : Conglomerate

taken 8 years ago, near to Llangoed, Isle of Anglesey/Sir Ynys Mon, Great Britain

The lower layer of this face is fairly coarse-grained, but reasonably uniform in size, and probably quite well lithified. On top of it is a fine-grained lens, which seems to be weaker because the sea has excavated a small cave in its base. The top layer contains a much larger range of clast sizes, suggesting deposition by ice.
