SU1404 : Sluice gate on eastern bank of River Avon

taken 7 years ago, near to Ringwood, Hampshire, Great Britain

Sluice gate on eastern bank of River Avon
Sluice gate on eastern bank of River Avon
The Avon Valley Path passes over it. The gate controls the flow of water from Bickerley Millstream (off picture right) into the river via a narrow channel which effectively short-circuits the southern part of the millstream. But it seems that the gate is never opened. The top of the concrete wall here is convex; I nearly fell in the river.
