Marker stone carvings at Queen Mary's Mount
An emblematic crown above the initials M.R. for Maria Regina, referring to Mary Stewart. There's really no need to designate her 'Queen of Scots' north of the border, though Scots have been surprisingly happy to adopt this English usage which avoided confusion in the south by distinguishing her from Mary Tudor.
