Widmerpool station
Widmerpool station
The station building (from 1880) is well-maintained, but now almost invisible under the load of the extensions that accompany its conversion to a pub and restaurant. It is a long way from the village, and poor patronage saw its closure to passengers in 1949. Conversion to a pub called the Schooner Inn was around 1966, and pre-dated the closure of the line in 1968 to normal traffic. At the time of imaging, the pub appeared to have ceased trading.
