Single square kiln oast house. A chicken sits proudly on the vane, presumably as Charity farm was once bred chickens, as some old chicken house can still be seen.

Oast House Cowls & Ventilators, close up
The cowl was fitted to the top of the kiln roof of an oast house. It pivoted with the wind to allow the hot air from the fired kiln below to be drawn through the hops and out through the top. Read more about cowls LinkExternal link
