SN9487 : Western approach to Van Terrace

taken 8 years ago, near to Y Fan, Powys, Great Britain

Western approach to Van Terrace
Western approach to Van Terrace
The terrace of miners' houses is the main group of older buildings in the village. It is now surrounded by a variety of newer properties. Van is a very different place from the derelict mining village I came across years ago; with the mining remains all but vanished under vegetation it now has the air of a desirable place to live. "Van" is derived from the "Fan" in "Y Fan", the Welsh "F" being pronounced like the English "V".
