'Wantage' was designed by Birmingham architects Buckland and Farmer in 1901 for the Dennison family. It is grade 2 listed and when it was built details of its construction were published in both the Architectural Review and The Studio.
Aaron Lufkin Dennison was "the father of the American watch industry". He founded the Waltham Watch Company in 1854, then moved to Switzerland and finally to Birmingham where he opened another factory. After his death in 1895 his widow and children came to live in Kenilworth.
