Scoat Tarn
Scoat Tarn
Looking along the length of the tarn. The northern shore in the distance. A rock floored corrie tarn which is about 66 feet deep. The tarn is one of 22 freshwater sites for the UK Acid Water Monitoring Network and is subject to ongoing chemical and biological analysis as is the nearby Burnmoor Tarn. The tarn is also studied as part of ECN, Environmental Change Network. Scoat Tarn is also a wonderful place to be on a June evening.
