NK0631 : Orchid

taken 8 years ago, 3 km from Whinnyfold, Aberdeenshire, Great Britain

In spite of the shape of the spike this cannot be a Pyramidal Orchid, because for one thing it lacks the long spur which is characteristic of that species, and for another, Pyramidal Orchid has never been recorded anywhere within 100 kilometres of here. The leaves are not spotted, and it is much paler than the surrounding Northern March Orchids, so I find myself unable to identify it, and must content myself with photographing and admiring.
