The road from Crewkerne to Lyme Regis winds along the edge of the Marshwood Vale. Here between Marshwood and a turning to Fishpond Bottom is a bright display of Rosebay Willowherb (Epilobium angustifolium).
Not always found as a wild flower, the Victorians used to grow Rosebay Willowherb in their gardens. Its leaves and those of the Great Hairy Willowherb are often used in Russia as Kaporie Tea. The down of the seeds has also been used for making stockings when mixed with cotton.
