Trent and Mersey Canal at Armitage, Staffordshire
For 130 yards (119 metres) there used to be a tunnel through the sandstone. This was removed in 1971 when subsidence due to coal mining nearby had to be dealt with. What remains is a narrow section of canal in which boats cannot pass each other.
