From the late 1970s to the early 1990s I used to take pupils from Chaucer School in Sheffield to Low Leaf Howe House which is about 150 metres along the track from your photo. The staff spent many weekends and holidays trying to improve the building which provided basic accommodation for about 20 people. Is the house still there? I used to take pupils walking through the forest and recognise many of the locations you have photographed in the area. The hardest thing to find was the trig point and then trying to imagine why they put it there, the kids could not imagine the area without trees!
