SD8075 : Typical upland limestone pasture

taken 8 years ago, near to High Birkwith, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Typical upland limestone pasture
Typical upland limestone pasture
Thin grass on thin soil really showing the effect of dry weather. Drought soon shows in this grassland, there is very little "bottom" water supply within the limestone so the grass has to rely on regular rainfall, this slope faces SW so it gets sunshine for much of the day.
