SU9900 : Elmer Sands

Elmer Sands
Elmer Sands
The mounds in the background are the new sea defences erected for this part of the coast. Since the middle ages two villages, Atherington and Cudlow, have been lost to the sea between this point and the mouth of the River Arun. Of the former only the farm remains whilst the latter is recalled by the name of a barn to the north of this point.
