SP4115 : The Yard at Combe Mill
taken 14 years ago, near to Long Hanborough, Oxfordshire, England
The Yard at Combe Mill
The yard is modern, built on the filled in mill pond. The mill wheel is in the right hand side of the old building. Only about 2 metres of the old head race remain now.
The lean-to houses the present boiler. The other buildings are commercial units and not part of the mill.
There has been a mill here since at least 1082, when the Domesday Book noted a mill at "Cube".
The sawmill formerly handled all the timber for the Blenheim Estate. There was a siding from the nearby railway and a short tramway into the mill itself.
