Democracy Village below Big Ben
Brian Haw originally set up camp here in Parliament Square in 2001 to protest against the Iraq war. Subsequently other protesters have joined him to campaign around climate change, to call for soldiers' right to a trade union, and to make other political points. The site was then said to have attracted undesirable behaviour and the Mayor of London won a High Court order to evict the campers on July 1st 2010 but this has now been suspended pending appeals.
Photograph taken around 11.30pm in early June.
