Grand Union Canal, Saltley
Grand Union Canal, Saltley
The main length of the Grand Union Canal from London to Samson's Lane Wharf in Birmingham was widened in the 1930s. However this section, seen from Saltley Viaduct, from Bordesley Junction and on to Salford Junction (with the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal) still retains the narrow (7' beam) gauge to which it was originally constructed by the Warwick and Birmingham Canal Company.
