SO8984 : Underpass under St. John's Road

Underpass under St. John's Road
Underpass under St. John's Road
This underpass, or subway, is the safest way to get from the end of Lower High Street to the other side of the ring road. The ring road is a bit of a race track. It is one-way and cars hurtle around it at speed, making it very risky to attempt to cross it on the surface.

Unfortunately this underpass is not typical of those which go under the ring road. This one is short, clean, and you can see who is coming in the other direction. It is also pleasantly decorated on this side. Most of the other underpasses are the very opposite of this in every respect. Apart from being long, having side branches and turns, they are also disgustingly dirty and dangerous places, and do no credit to Dudley Council at all.
