Out too early from the nest, this juvenile owl (Tawny, I believe) had hopped to the end of a raised log but showed no inclination to fly, despite being pestered by flies and gawped at by humans. One positive aspect, perhaps, was that it was dusk and too late in the day for crows or magpies to take an interest.
