Fishbourne Roman Palace
Fishbourne Roman Palace
This gravel path marks the central path through the grounds and palace buildings. The main western wing would have been along the bank in the distancethe area to the right has been excavated but the area to the left lies under houses and gardens. No buildings remain on the site as all the stone had been stolen. Numerous mosaics have been found establishing this as the largest roman house north of the Alps.
