NO2155 : A deceit of lapwings

taken 7 years ago, 4 km from Tullymurdoch, Perth And Kinross, Great Britain

A deceit of lapwings
A deceit of lapwings
Since Chaucer wrote of the 'false lapwynge, ful of treacherye', the lapwing has had an association with deceit, perhaps because of its beautiful plumage and joyous display flights. There were 14 in this deceit enjoying their aerobatics in the half gale.
