NG3542 : Stone walled sheep pen

taken 8 years ago, 4 km from Ose, Highland, Great Britain

Stone walled sheep pen
Stone walled sheep pen
This large pen, with walls ruined in places, is one of many signs of former agriculture in Glen Colbost. There are only a scattering of sheep and cattle here now. Habitation here certainly goes back to the iron age - there is a ruined broch on top of the crag beyond the pen. Many of the stones in the wall have probably been robbed from the broch.
