Little Cressingham Watermill/Pump
Little Cressingham Watermill/Pump
A separate outbuilding housed a water wheel that powered a c.1800 Bramah pump to supply water for Claremont Hall gardens. Eventually this arrangement was replaced by two more powerful hydraulic rams made by Green & Carter of Winchester. The first was installed in 1934 and the second in 1935. Dredging in the 1960s robbed the mill of sufficient water to turn the wheel.
