A single-storey domestic complex that looks nothing out-of-the-ordinary as you pass by - except for the unusual brick tower at one end. In fact it is of considerable historic interest being originally built in 1942 to accommodate 'landgirls' from the Women's Land Army (conscripted to do farm work in the absence of the men); it subsequently housed Italian and German POWs, and after the end of the war, Polish ex-servicemen. Water was drawn from a local well SN1338 : Ffynnon Fair, Eglwyswrw and then a neighbouring farm and stored in the water tower. It was used as a home after the war but the buildings were abandoned sometime in the 50s and used for agricultural purposes until bought in 2000 and converted into a home and B&B accommodation, their website being the source of this information, for which many thanks, LinkExternal link
