Landing lights at City Airport
The runway at City Airport is on the 'peninsula' between two vast docks (Royal Albert and King George V). These are the landing lights at the east end.
London City Airport
Opened in 1987, the airport is situated by the Royal Docks in the Borough of Newham. It has a single 1500m long runway, running between Royal Albert Dock and King George V dock.
In December 2005 the Docklands Light Railway was extended to the airport.
In 2011 almost 3.0 million passengers used the airport.
